KIRANA SHOP

This Kirana shop was set up in April 2013.  The owner has set up outside a busy school in the hope that school children will buy snacks from her. She has put a small stove at the back of the shop to expand her business by offering hot tea and other beverages. Future plans include purchasing a sewing machine, once funds allow, so that she can also make and sell clothes during quiet periods.

This young lady was happily doing brisk business when we visited her newly established provisions shop, funded by WONDERWorks.  Kirana shops, as they are known in Nepal, sell a variety of items such as rice, lentils, eggs, vegetables, sauces, biscuits, confectionary, beverages and tobacco.
