Self-Defense Training for GWT

Marc and Chulie have spent an interesting few days in Pokhara this week where, at the request of the Gurkha Welfare Trust, Marc has been teaching self-defense to some of their female social workers and medical staff, who often carry out their important work alone, in very remote areas of Nepal.

The training was held over three days. The first day was ‘Train the Trainers’, with those attending then helping to instruct two more courses over the next two days. The focus was on confidence building, risk assessment, awareness and how to use the body to escape from serious situations. In total twenty-four GWT staff attended the training.

Just as the final course came to an end, the monsoon clouds rolled back, revealing a stunning view of Machhapucchre Mountain. What a great way to finish up!
