Spice Shopping

We spent a rainy Sunday shopping for stock this morning and after two hours of selecting and weighing, came away from the wholesalers laden down with over 21 kilos of different spices! Cloves, black pepper, nutmeg, mace, fenugreek, star anise, cardamon – to name but a few!  The next stop took us through flooded, muddy lanes and into the market, where we purchased 1.5 kilos of tiny plastic bags. The two new business owners then headed off home, struggling under the weight, but clearly delighted with their purchases. The afternoon would be spent carefully dividing all the spices into small portions, ready to sell tomorrow so as to take advantage of the build up to the Dashain festival. We have our fingers crossed and wish them all the luck in the world!
