The date’s been set
On February 5th, two hundred and fifty girls at the Mahendra Daya Secondary School in Patidanda, Sindupulchowk, will be receiving our free sanitary pad kits! Our hope is that it will make attending classes during their monthly periods easier for them and therefore lessen the chance of them dropping out due to missed schooling.
With only two months to go, our ladies are working hard to make sure we have enough kits for every student! Each girl will receive a colourful, waterproof bag containing two sanitary pad sets (two bases and 8 pads in total) so we need to produce 2,000 pads and 500 bases before the big day!
We’ve been holding more Sanitary Pad Training Workshops so that we can offer work opportunities to a bigger pool of ladies – and our sewing machines have been in constant use. We asked one mother how she was planning to use the money she had earned in November. Her reply was heartwarming! She would pay for her son’s school fees and use the remaining money to buy breakfast for her family.
We’ve been making the most of fabrics that have been donated to us, which has helped save on costs but with so many girls, and with each kit averaging US$10, to cover fabrics, buttons, the bag, distribution costs and a fair wage for the tailoring of each one, we would really appreciate help.
If you plan to give a meaningful gift for Christmas this year, please consider sponsoring a sanitary kit through our ‘Project Dignity’ Just Giving Campaign:

It will make a big difference to the school girl who receives it, as well as to the woman in need of a dignified way to support her family .
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
