Two-day Health Camp

Restrictions were finally lifted in Kathmandu last week which coincided perfectly with the Well-Woman camp that we held at the Support Centre, as part of our Covid relief work.

All the WONDERWorks staff have now been vaccinated and to minimize risk we ran the program over two days instead of one, worked on an appointment basis and ensured that all safety protocols were in place. It’s been nearly two years since our last health camp, so it was well received, with 110 women passing through our doors to see the gynaecologist. Each patient had her temperature, blood pressure and weight recorded, a breast examination, a glucose and urine check, a consultation and VIA test (for cervical cancer) and an HIV test. Most patients required medication of some kind and this is being distributed free at the centre today.

We’re so pleased that we’ve been able to provide this much needed camp and would like to thank our kind and generous donors who made it possible. We’d also like to thank NAHUDA and Step Nepal for their professional help and friendly smiles. To support the important work NAHUDA carry out, we have donated a sterilizer and 50 speculums, for their field camps.
